Great story! I could see those places pretty well, especially Navy Beach and the Plunge building. I lived in Atlantic City, NJ, in the early '70s and it had a similar feel to it- a sad but beautiful ruin. When you get older you realize that those bitchin little scenes you knew are gone, bulldozed, and there are few who remember them and fewer that even care. But I got a little taste, a fleeting glimpse of that vibrant era from your story. I'd've liked to have been there! Thanks, and keep writing.

Hi, Pat, Thanks for reading. Went to a great lifeguard dinner last night right there where the old Venice Plunge used to be in honor of George Freeth 1st surfer in U.S. 1907. Lots of reminiscing and nostalgia. cal
